The old Antrim District Council and Newtownabbey Borough Council have simply been amalgamated to create the new local authority.

Votes by Party:
DUP: 17,157 (38.6%), 17 councillors
UUP: 8,798 (19.8%), 9 councillors
Alliance: 6,415 (14.4%), 6 councillors
SF: 5,578 (12.5%), 5 councillors
SDLP: 4,273 (9.6%)
PUP: 615 (1.4%)
TUV: 363 (0.8%)
BNP: 104 (0.2%)
Ind: 1,198 (2.7%)

Electorate: 91,299; votes cast: 45,318; spoilt votes: 817 (1.8%); valid votes: 44,501 (98.2%)

2011 Census: 41,214 "Catholic" (29.74%); 84,658 "Protestant" (61.10%); 1,504 Other (1.09%); 11,191 None (8.08%)

The notional results given above are my best guess projection of the 2011 results on the new boundaries - a "backcast" rather than a forecast. Two other commentators, known to me only as Irish Observer and Faha, have also projected the results in each DEA. They differ from me on the notional seats for each party as follows:
My projection: 17 DUP, 9 UUP, 6 Alliance, 5 SF, 3 SDLP.
Irish Observer: 19 DUP, 8 UUP, 6 Alliance, 4 SF, 3 SDLP.
Faha: 17 DUP, 9 UUP, 6 Alliance, 5 SF, 3 SDLP (same as me).
