Most Recent Election Results Summary

On 7 June 2001 the voters of Northern Ireland chose 18 MPs for the House of Commons in Westminster, and also the 582 members of the 26 district councils. These 600 were the largest number of people elected on the same day since 1967. It was also the first time ever that a proportional representation election (for the local councils) and a "First-Past-the-Post" election (for Westminster) took place on the same day across Northern Ireland - the most complex election we have ever had.
