Newry & Mourne District Council Elections, 1993 - 2011

Sinn Fein consolidated their position as the largest party in Newry and Mourne, seeing a three percent increase in their share of the vote and picking up an additional seat in Crotlieve DEA. The once dominant SDLP lost a seat in Newry Town to Independent candidate and former Sinn Fein councillor Davy Hyland. They managed to compensate by making a gain in Crotlieve, where incumbent Green and Independent councillors stood down. In a similar vein, the UUP's loss in The Mournes was off-set by a victory over the DUP in The Fews. UKIP won their only representation in Nothern Ireland when their candidate and former UUP councillor, Henry Reilly, topped the poll in The Mournes.
