Issue No: 6 - Jun/2013

Introduction

Welcome to the June edition of the ARK newsletter. The ARK team has been very busy over the past few weeks, and this edition highlights the resources that have recently come online. There will be no newsletter in July or August, but we'll be back again in September. Have a good summer!

ARK seminars and events

Did you know that we video most of our seminars and events, and these are available online just a few days after the event takes place? We also create a link to any presentation slides or publications, so that you can access all the material relating to the events.

Northern Ireland Life and Times survey results

Northern Ireland Life and Times survey results
4th June saw the launch of the results of the 2012 Northern Ireland Life and Times (NILT) survey. As well as the questionnaire and dataset, tables of results are available for every question, broken down by age, sex and religion.

Two seminars were held to launch the results. On 4th June, Karola Dillenburger, Julie-Ann Jordan, Lyn McKerr and Cillian McKerr (see photo) discussed NILT results on attitudes to, and knowledge of, autism. On 6th June, Duncan Morrow and Rick Wilford explored public attitudes to the long term future of Northern Ireland. As with most ARK seminars, these events were recorded. Details on accessing the videos and slide presentations, are available in this newsletter, as are details on the new Research Update on autism.

Young Life and Times Survey results

Young Life and Times Survey results
The results from the 2012 Young Life and Times (YLT) Survey are now available. The survey asked 16 year olds what they thought about Shared Education; Community Relations, Equality and Diversity in Education (CRED); Identity; Community Relations; Family, and much much more.

The launch of the 2012 results was held on 28 May and we were very pleased that the Minister for Education, John O'Dowd MLA, was able to attend the event, and commented on the YLT figures relating to CRED and Shared Education (see photo).
