• The role of the Social Security Agency (within the Department for Social Development) is to assess and pay social security benefits and give advice and information about the schemes. Their website contains information on the full range of benefits available, such as Pension Credit (which replaced the Minimum Income Guarantee on 6 October 2003), Income Support, and State Pension.
  
• Information on Pension Credit can also be found on the website of the Department for Work and Pensions.
  
• Help the Aged and Age Concern have joined to create a new organisation - Age UK, which includes a section for Northern Ireland (AgeNI).. The Age UK website includes a section on pensions.
• The Office of the First Minister and Deputy First Minister is responsible for the development of policy on age discrimination and for providing appropriate legislation.
• An Older People's Advocate for Northern Ireland took up post in December 2008.
• Wise Owls is an organisation dedicated to championing the rights of people between 45-65. Its activities focus on combating ageism, employment advice, business support, research and training.
