CAIN Chronology of the Conflict

A vital feature of CAIN - Conflict Archive on the INternet - is the Chronology of the Conflict. This section provides brief entries on dates and events relating to the Troubles and Peace Process, with links to relevant documents. More detailed information is provided for dates that coincide with significant events and key issues.

For example, on 15 December 1993, the 'Joint Declaration on Peace' or 'The Downing Street Declaration' was published. This declaration was issued by John Major, then British Prime Minister, and Albert Reynolds, then Taoiseach (Irish Prime Minister), on behalf of the British and Irish Governments. The full text of the Declaration is available on CAIN.
