CAIN (Conflict Archive on the Internet) is widely recognised as a trusted source of information on the conflict in and about Northern Ireland. CAIN is now exploring ways to transform the website. Whilst the range of content to be found on CAIN will remain the same, the look and feel of the website will change.

CAIN users now have the opportunity to contribute to this modernisation process. By completing a short survey, users can give their views on what features and functionality should be part of the new website.

This new policy brief, written by Susan Lagdon, Julie-Anne Jordan, Ann Marie Gray and Goretti Horgan, draws on published research evidence and discussion at an ARK organised roundtable event held on 11 August 2022. Public Understanding of Coercive Control In Northern Ireland highlights data from the 2020 Northern Ireland Life and Times survey, and the Young Life and Times survey, exploring public knowledge and attitudes relating to this topic.

A new Research Update, by Md Salah Uddin and Dirk Schubotz, explores data from the Young Life and Times (YLT) survey. A key finding of Young People's Attitudes to Minority Ethnic Groups and Asylum Seeking (Research Update 148), is that generally, young people in Northern Ireland hold positive attitudes towards minority ethnic groups and asylum seekers. Importantly, these positive attitudes are linked to higher levels of contact.

The Framing Ageing network brings together an international group of geriatricians, gerontologists, humanities researchers, social scientists and practitioners. This Network, in collaboration with the ARK Ageing Programme, and the Queen's University Belfast Science and Culture Research Group, will host a symposium for early year researchers on 14 December 2022. With a keynote address from Dr Hannah Zeilig and contributions from Professor Des O'Neill (Trinity College Dublin) and Dr Gemma Carney (ARK), this event offers rich terrain for interdisciplinary exchange.

Early career scholars (PhD students, lecturers or postdocs) whose work could be described as the interdisciplinary study of ageing are invited to submit a 250 word abstract to Dr. Gemma Carney g.carney@qub.ac.uk before 4pm on 31 October 2022. Please include your contact details and institutional affiliation on the title page, and put Framing Ageing in the subject heading of your email.

We are very pleased to welcome Erin Early to the ARK team. Erin is a Lecturer in Sociology, based in the School of Social Sciences, Education and Social Work at Queen's University Belfast. She previously held Research Fellow positions at University College London and Queen's University Belfast. Erin's research interests are centred around secondary data analysis and social inequalities, particularly in education, health and the family.

ARK is Northern Ireland's social policy hub. Established in 2000 by researchers at Queen's University Belfast and Ulster University, its primary goal is to increase the accessibility and use of academic data and research.
