Welcome to our last newsletter before the Summer period. As ever it has been a busy time for the ARK team with major launches and new publications.

National Centre for Research Methods (NCRM) courses in Northern Ireland Autumn 2016

The National Centre for Research Methods (NCRM) undertakes methodological research and training in the social sciences, and is funded by the Economic and Social Research Council. These courses are suitable for postgraduate students and researchers. ARK will be helping the NCRM put on a number of courses in Northern Ireland during the coming academic year. These include:
    'Making & Measuring Impact', 14 September 2016. The course will take place in Seminar Room 1 in the Postgraduate Centre, Queen's University, Belfast.
    'Latent Class Analysis', 15/16 September 2016. The course will take place in the Training Room at the McClay Library, Queen's University, Belfast. There will be 6 free places for N.I.-located postgrads, allocated on a 'first come, first served' basis. To request one of these places, register instead Here
    'CADQAS Software Planning Seminar', 25 January 2017. The course is provisionally booked for Room 1.35, 6 College Park East, Queen's University, Belfast. Registration will open in the autumn, so please check the NCRM website then.

Two recent publications are:

    A Question of Sport ARK Research Update shows almost one third of P7 children, but less than one in ten 16-year olds meet target of 60 minutes of physical activity per day.

Seminar: Public Attitudes to Data Sharing 7 September 2016

Public Attitudes to Data Sharing in Northern Ireland

BA-00-008, Ulster University, Belfast Campus, York Street, Belfast
Wednesday 7 September 2016 at 11.45am, followed by a light lunch.

In this joint ARK and Administrative Data Research Centre NI seminar the findings of the NILT 2015 survey on Public Attitudes to Data Sharing in Northern Ireland will be presented.

'Is Northern Ireland a good place to grow old?' ARK staff facilitate event with year 9 pupils

ARK staff facilitated an event with 13 year olds (Year 9) on 9th June on the topic: Is Northern Ireland a good place to grow old? SUPI stands for "RCUK Schools Universities Partnership Initiative" and the aim is to engage academic researchers and school pupils in some kind of dialogue about research. In this case, we had students from 3 post-primary schools from North Down.
