Introduction

Welcome to our first newsletter in 2023. Integral to our work is the ARK team, as well as collaborations within the universities and beyond. In this edition, we're pleased to welcome a new team member, as well as marking the passing of a friend and colleague.

Welcome to new ARK team member
We are very pleased to welcome Dr Min-Chen Liu to the ARK team. Min-Chen is a Research Fellow in the School of Social Sciences, Education and Social Work, Queen's University Belfast, and is based within the ARK survey team.

Min-Chen's research interests are minority group education, modern foreign languages, and digital education. She is co-author of a new report on Languages Provision in UK Further Education, funded by the British Academy.

Eileen Evason

The ARK team was saddened to hear of the passing of our friend and colleague, Professor Eileen Evason (Emeritus Professor of Social Policy and Administration at Ulster University). Eileen worked with ARK on numerous projects, including experiences and attitudes relating to pensions and retirement, carers, ageism and grandparents. Her knowledge of pensions, benefits and social security legislation was encyclopaedic, and she will be greatly missed.
