Sexual Orientation - ARK Research Update Feb 2014

ARK Research Update 'Queering the Family: Attitudes towards Lesbian and Gay Relationships and Families in Northern Ireland' by Siobhan McAlister, Nicola Carr & Gail Neill provides an overview of some of the information emerging from the NILT data. ARK Ageing Programme Seminar

ARK Ageing Programme Seminar
Thursday 5 February 2015 at 2:30pm Old Staff Common Room, Queen's University. 'There could be someone in here that's gay..': The provision of inclusive services to older lesbian, gay and bisexual (LGB) adults in residential care environments in Wales. In this seminar, jointly organised with the School of Sociology, Social Policy and Social work at Queen's University, Paul Willis (Swansea University) will discuss his recent research on LGB adults in residential care environments in Wales. ARK produces a range of publications, including Research Updates and fact sheets. Most of these are available online. Our latest publications include:
  • Truth about Youth: Issues relating to the media and policing , written by Ann Marie Gray and Goretti Horgan. This Policy Brief focuses on policy issues relating to negative stereotyping and young people in relation to the media and policing.
  • Collaborating towards an Age-Friendly Northern Ireland, written by Ann Marie Gray, Paula Devine, Vicki Titterington, Lynn Johnston and Nancy Henkin.
  • Who can I talk to? Self-harm and seeking help among 16 year olds: Changes between 2008 and 2013 A new research update drawing on data from the Young Life and Times survey written by Mark McCann reports the main changes that occurred during this 5 year period.
  • Finally an ARK Ageing Programme briefing paper has been prepared by Paula Devine that highlights key issues related to one-to-one befriending programmes, and presents eight case studies 'One-to-one befriending programmes for older people'
