The 1989 Local Government Elections

As Northern Ireland elections go, these were pretty unexciting. They were marked by some consolidation of the centre, as the DUP and more particularly SF saw their support slip; but the only real spark of interest was generated in North Down, where the Conservative Party won six seats and became the largest group on the council.(See spreadsheet archive.)
