List of candidates

By request, here is the full list of the 256 candidates in the 2003 Assembly election.

MEP refers to those who won seats in the June 1999 European election (Ian Paisley sr).

MP refers to those who won seats in the June 2001 Westminster election. If the constituency name is in bold, the candidate stood in the same constituency in both the 2001 Westminster election and the 2003 Assembly election. If they stood in a different constituency in 2001 and 2003, the 2001 constituency is prefixed with an ampersand (&).

* means that the candidate was elected in June 1998 to the Assembly from the same constituency.
# means that the candidate was elected in June 1998 to the Assembly from a different constituency.

Candidates who also won seats in the June 2001 local government elections are described as 'Cllr'.

Changes of party are noted only if a candidate's party affiliation in 2003 was different to their affiliation in 1998.
