The next event will focus on intergenerational friendships, and will be held on 12 April 2018 in Trinity College Dublin &#8211; click <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ark.ac.uk\/events\/friendsapr18.pdf\">here<\/a> for more details.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The launch of BSGNI was marked with an event <a title=\"Representing Age\" href=\"http:\/\/www.ark.ac.uk\/ap\/bsgni\/representing-age\/\">Representing Age<\/a>, which took place on Wednesday 22 April 2015.<\/li>\n<li>A seminar was held in Ulster University, focusing on <a title=\"oct27\" href=\"http:\/\/www.ark.ac.uk\/ap\/bsgni\/oct27\/\">Ageing &amp; Research,<\/a> on Tuesday 27 October 2015.<\/li>\n<li>An event on 10 June 2016 highlighed <a title=\"jun16\" href=\"http:\/\/www.ark.ac.uk\/ap\/bsgni\/jun16\/\">the role of community and gardening and community for ageing well<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>On 7 June 2017, a workshop explored <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ark.ac.uk\/ap\/people\/vfellow\/anna-tarrant\/grandparents\/\">grandparents\u2019 experiences of kinship care from multiple perspectives.<\/a><\/li>\n<li>A seminar by Jill Manthorpe on 26 November 2017 focused on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ark.ac.uk\/ap\/events\/jmnov17\/\" target=\"_blank\">&#8216;relationships in the round&#8217; within adult safeguarding<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>An event on 12 April 2018 highlighted the significance of <a href=\"https:\/\/ageingissues.wordpress.com\/2018\/04\/13\/old-friends-or-young-friends-they-are-all-worth-the-time-and-effort\/\" target=\"_blank\">intergenerational friendships<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>We have also presented papers at the annual BSG conferences:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Gemma Carney, Paula Devine, Elizabeth Martin, Sarah Lawrence and Alexandra Chapman gave papers at the <a title=\"bsg17\" href=\"http:\/\/www.ark.ac.uk\/ap\/bsg17\/\">46th Annual BSG conference<\/a> in July 2017.<\/li>\n<li>Gemma Carney, Paula Devine and Elizabeth Martin participated in the <a title=\"bsg16\" href=\"http:\/\/www.ark.ac.uk\/ap\/bsg16\/\">45th Annual BSG conference<\/a> in July 2016.<\/li>\n<li>Gemma Carney and Paula Devine gave a paper at the <a title=\"bsg16\" href=\"http:\/\/www.ark.ac.uk\/ap\/bsg15\">44th Annual BSG conference<\/a> in July 2015.<\/li>\n<li>The ARK Ageing Programme team organised a symposium \u2018<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ark.ac.uk\/ap\/bsg14\/\">Ageing and Social Isolation in Divided Societies: social, political and cultural intersections in Britain and Ireland<\/a>&#8216; at the 43rd Annual BSG conference in September 2014.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div id=\"themify_builder_content-4218\" data-postid=\"4218\" class=\"themify_builder_content themify_builder_content-4218 themify_builder\">\n    <\/div>\n<!-- \/themify_builder_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>British Society of Gerontology Northern Ireland (BSGNI): Activities This group was set up in April 2015, and we plan to hold at least 1 key event per year.
