However, this seminar highlighted how population ageing affects everyone.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Gemma Carney\u00a0 (ARK Ageing Programme)<\/strong> presented findings from the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ark.ac.uk\/klt\/2014\">2014 Kids&#8217; Life and Times survey<\/a>, exploring children\u2019s attitudes to age and ageing.<\/p>\n<p>View <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ark.ac.uk\/ap\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/GC17sep15.pdf\">slides; <\/a>View <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ark.ac.uk\/publications\/updates\/update101.pdf\">Research Update: What do children think about old age?<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Professor Pearl Dykstra (Erasmus University Rotterdam)<\/strong> discussed how demographic changes have strongly altered the social worlds of children, and are creating new opportunities for intergenerational connections. She also highlighted how age segregation deprives the young of a proper view of mid-life and old age, and produces adults who have little understanding of the young.<\/p>\n<p>View <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ark.ac.uk\/ap\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/PD17sep15.pdf\">slides<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Pearl Dykstra is Professor of Empirical Sociology at Erasmus University Rotterdam, and is an internationally renowned specialist in family change, ageing societies and the life course.
