Sarah began
her PhD studentship in May 2014 with the School of Sociology,
Social Policy and Social Work at Queen's University Belfast. The
project will focus upon the experiences of men over fifty years
old held in custody in Northern Ireland. Her research interests
include the health and wellbeing of this growing population and
the implication that this growth will have on the services provided
by the criminal justice system, as well as local and national
health authorities. Sarah's research will utilise a mixed methodology
approach. It is perceived that the research will primarily impact
upon future policy development in relation to the needs of older
people in prison.
Sarah's supervisors
are Dr
Nicola Carr and Dr
Paula Devine.
