  • Making Life Better is the strategic framework for public health for 2013-2023. It is designed to provide direction for policies and actions to improve the health and wellbeing of people in Northern Ireland and to reduce inequalities in health.
  • The new Northern Ireland Active Ageing Strategy was published by the Office of the First Minister and Deputy First Minister for consultation on 21 February 2014. The consultation closes on 23 May 2014.
  • A Profile of Older People in Northern Ireland - 2013 update (November 2013): This report published by the Office of the First Minister and Deputy First Minister, provides an update on a selection of high level statistics relating to older people in Northern Ireland.
  • Estimates of the population aged 85 and over, Northern Ireland 2012 (and revised 2001-2011) (September 2013): - The ageing of the population has led to increased demand for more detailed population estimates of older people. The Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency (NISRA) have produced detailed estimates of the numbers of people aged 85 and over by sex and age. The most recent estimates relate to mid-2012. Estimates for the period mid-2001 to mid-2011 have been rebased (as with the recently updated mid-year estimates) to take into account the 2011 Census. Excel tables relating to this report, as well as previous reports, are also available on the NISRA website.
  • Pensioners' Income Series is produced by the Department for Social Development, and contains estimates of the level and trends of pensioners' incomes in Northern Ireland based on the Family Resources Survey, Northern Ireland.
