In 2007 Young Life
and Times invited all eligible survey respondents as well as all 16-year
old pupils attending post-primary schools in Northern Ireland to take
part in an essay writing competition. Budding authors were asked to
write about -
'The
Lives and Times of Young People in Northern Ireland today'
We were very pleased
to receive 28 essays, all of which were very interesting and of a high
quality. We selected the following winner and runner up:
- 1st prize (£300):
Shaun Mulvenna
- 2nd prize (£200):
Gavin Carmichael
The winning essay
is also being published as a book chapter in a forthcoming edited volume
focusing on Young Life and Times survey data.
