A new Racial Equality Strategy for Northern Ireland 2015-2025 has just been published by OFMDFM, with the aim of promoting good race relations and social cohesion.

Racial equality is a key focus of much of our work, for example:

• Every year, we record public attitudes to racial equality issues, in the Northern Ireland Life and Times Survey, and in the Young Life and Times Survey.
• A recent Research Update Attitudes towards minority ethnic people and migrant workers in 2014, by Philip McDermott, is based on data from the 2014 NI Life and Times Survey.
• Philip McDermott presented a seminar in November 2014 exploring public attitudes towards minority ethnic people and migrant workers, and a video of this event is available on our website.

 

Two new Research Updates are now available:

• Public Attitudes Towards LGB Equality, by Nicola Carr, Paula Devine, Siobhan McAlister and Gail Neil. This Research Update explores data from the 2013 Northern Ireland Life and Times Survey.
• Dementia: look closer, by Elizabeth Byrne McCullough and Paula Devine. This report is based on data from the 2014 Northern Ireland Life and Times Survey.

Join us for our last event of 2015, which will take place on 16 December. In this seminar, Dr Duncan Morrow (Ulster University) will discuss the state of community relations based on findings from the Northern Ireland Life and Times survey series by super council area. This seminar will take place at NICVA in Belfast.
