ARK Ageing Programme and The Playhouse announce a Creative Ageing Symposium 13 May 2016

Please join us for an interactive creating ageing symposium.

The key speaker and facilitator will be Dominic Campbell (co-founder and Artistic Director of Creative Aging International)

The event will be held at The Playhouse, Artillery Street, Derry/Londonderry on Friday, 13 May 2016 from 11am to 3pm (lunch will be provided)

2015 KLT and YLT Launch - 11 May 2016

We would like to invite you to the joint launch of 2015 Kids' Life and Times (KLT) and Young Life and Times (YLT) survey results, which will be held on 11 May 2016. The presentation of results will run from approximately 13.30 - 16.00 (registration and light lunch available from 13.00)

ARK Ageing Programme and U3A Foyle invite you to ' Age Encounters: Combatting lonliness in old age'. 1 June 2016

The ARK Ageing Programme and U3A Foyle invite you to an 'Age Encounters' event, which explores loneliness in older age from different perspectives:
  • Robert Hagan (Ulster University) will focus on theoretical views of loneliness and how these relate to the life course and ageing
  • U3A members will discuss their personal experiences of combatting loneliness
  • Community transport coordinators will highlight the role of community transport in enabling people to participate in activities.

New Northern Ireland Life and Times survey Teaching Datasets now available

Two teaching datasets have been created based on the 2014 Northern Ireland Life and Times Survey: one focusing on ageing, and one on dementia. The datasets are available in SPSS format, and the accompanying teaching resources document includes background information and a codebook. These resources are aimed at both undergraduate and postgraduate level.

Imagine Belfast Festival: Planning for the Future - Older People in Northern Ireland

This exciting event was held in Ulster University on 16 March 2016, as part of the Imagine Belfast festival. The workshop was organised by Alexandra Chapman and Ciara Fitzpatrick, who are both PhD students at Ulster University. Alexandra is also a member of the ARK Ageing Programme team.
